History of the Dallas Police Battalion The Dallas Reserve Battalion is an integral part of the Dallas Police Department and has served the citizens of Dallas since 1953. It started as a group of citizens who assisted officers. Today it has evolved into a group of men and women who work in the same capacity as full-time officers. DPD Reserve Officers must now maintain the same Texas Basic Peace Officers License as full-time officers. Reserve officers work alongside DPD officers protecting and serving the citizens of Dallas.
